Drawing Place: Workshop and Exhibition at Espacio Vilches Santiago, Chile - March 2025
Renowned artists and academics Michael Boonstra and Andrew Myers, from the College of Liberal Arts at Oregon State University, will be at the UC School of Art from Monday, March 17th to Friday, March 21st, conducting a workshop and an open studio in Espacio Vilches. Students of Professor Luis Prato, who are beginning their residency program, will participate in this activity.
The connection between the academics and the UC School of Art dates back to 2022, when Professor Luis Prato undertook a sabbatical year of research and creation at the College of Forestry at Oregon State University in Oregon, USA. During his stay, Prato connected with Professors Boonstra and Myers, specialists in sculpture and drawing, who invited him to participate in an art and science camp held annually in a major Oregon forest reserve. This camp, which integrates contact with nature and the presence of renowned artists, inspired the idea of creating a collaboration between the two educational institutions. Boonstra and Myers' visit to the UC School of Art marks the beginning of this academic exchange process, with a view to future joint projects, including camps or artist residencies in Chilean Patagonia.
